Lizzie’s Fund

Thank you for visiting the Lizzie’s Fund website.

Lizzie’s Fund raises money for The Brain Tumour Charity (registered Charity no. 1150054) in loving memory of Lizzie Bramall in aid of research into childhood brain tumours.

Lizzie’s Story

Lizzie Bramall was a happy and energetic girl from Nayland in Suffolk, who lost her life to a rare brain tumour, a diffuse midline glioma called DIPG.  Lizzie died just 9 months after this devastating diagnosis, a week before her 10th birthday in 2018.  DIPG is inoperable and we were told that there was no treatment and no cure.  Our lives were shattered.

However, Lizzie was lucky to be given the opportunity to join an international clinical research trial at Great Ormond Street Hospital called BIOMEDE, part funded by the Brain Tumour Charity, which would help researchers learn more to find a cure in the future.

So Lizzie decided to help fundraise herself with a bake sale and so Lizzie’s Fund was launched, driven by the determination and passion of a 9 year old.

In the six years since we lost our daughter, with the support of many wonderful family and friends, we have continued to do what we can; to promote awareness, not only for Lizzie, but in memory of so many other children lost too soon to this devastating disease, and to fundraise for a cure for childhood brain tumours.  Lizzie’s Fund has now raised £650,000 from a wonderful variety of events and activities, including marathon walks, cycles, swims and runs, bake sales and coffee mornings, stitching and art sales, dinners and balls.  Lizzie would have been the most enthusiastic supporter at every event.

Thank you for taking the time to read our website and thank you for all your support to change the future for children affected by brain tumours.
